Our Fly Tiers

Murry Humble

Murry is a western tier transplanted to Minnesota. Initially trained in Cody, WY his patterns have adapted well to our Midwestern spring creeks. Murry is a custom tier and problem solver whose patterns are long on style and are easily recognizable. His work is published in TROUT FLIES OF THE EAST, Schollmeyer & Leeson.

Tracy Peterson

Tracy is a master tier. He designs flies for Umpqua Feather Merchants and his work is published in TROUT FLIES OF THE EAST. He has a restless imagination, prefers working with natural materials and thoroughly tests all his patterns in streams and lakes near his home in Corvallis, OR.

Rob Kolakowski

It's rare to find a young guy this good. Rob lives in Wisconsin and spends his free time testing his flies on spring creeks all over the state. Don't be deceived by their simplicity, they are extremely effective. Rob is also a nationally ranked fly caster.

Shop Tiers...

Scott Hanson is one of our key staffers at the Shop and ties absolutley perfect dry flies. He'll happily tie any pattern we offer but winter usually finds him tying a couple of hundred dries.

Ron Kuehn is another of our valued staffers, one of the funniest guys I know and he has a serious case of ADD. Ron fills in on any pattern that we need but specializes in streamers. Take a look at our Pass Lakes.

Ellen Clark likes to refer to herself as a former key employee, which she was. Now she lives on a ranch in Wyoming and supplies us with killer warm water patterns. Check out the Puss Bugs.

Dan McMillen is a former student, the closest thing to a mechanical genius I know and a tireless advocate for the wet fly. His soft hackle patterns are unique and very effective.

Brad Eaton is one of the kindest men I know. Always ready to lend a hand, Brad supplies us with a series of wet flies and hi-vis dries tied on big eye hooks for anglers whose eyesight could use some help.

Ron Aldorfer is another former student. He lives in Grantsburg and has perfected the Burnett County Black Widow, his go-to fly for bluegills.
