Join us from 6-9pm the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month this winter for Hops and Hoppers at Lake Monster Brewing. From 5-7, we will be offering 20% off materials at the shop, then head down to the brewery and grab a spot at the table.​ There is no cost or instruction at these events, bring your own tools and vice and tie up some bugs with friends.


Interested in getting into tying? In our intro class we will tie a wooly bugger, a prince nymph and a soft hackle. This class if for people with little to no tying experience. Class is from 7-9 here at the shop. We provide all tools and materials needed. $30

Take our in-depth course, and get familiar with the basics of fly fishing. During two weeknights in the shop, we’ll cover gear, flies, knots and more. Then on Saturday, we’ll practice casting, spotting fish, reading water, and identifying bugs. This class does not include fishing, but students are welcome to fish after class if they have valid WI fishing licenses. All gear is provided for this class. $120

Immerse yourself in fly fishing. This class is ideal for those who want to master basic skills, experience individual instructional time fishing with our guides, and take a break from the big city. We will spend two days and one night at a state park in south eastern Minnesota. Each morning you will learn about equipment and techniques, and each afternoon you will practice your skills on the stream. Bunkhouse cabins, fishing equipment, and all meals will be provided. Limited amount of waders and boots available to rent. Open to ages 18+. $200

This four-hour, four-person per instructor class is designed for those who’ve been through our Fly Fishing College or who consider themselves at an intermediate level. We’ll help you perfect your cast, and build upon the basic skills. Gear is not provided, limited amount of rods and waders and boots are available to rent. Starter packs (6 flies, tippet and a leader) are available at the shop for $20. ​​$75/person

Whether you are just beginning or an experienced angler, we can help you fine tune everything from laying the foundation for a good cast, to learning to double haul a hundred feet of line. This is a one-hour class at a near by park. This class is fully customized to your needs and schedule. If you decide to book a full-day guided trip after this class, the price of this lesson will be deducted from the price of the trip. ​​$40, +$20 for each additional person


This four-day class is designed to be a fun, relaxed way to expose your kids to fly fishing. At a kid-friendly level, we will cover fish identification, casting, and fly tying. Classes will be mixed between the shop and a local park. One adult per kid, please. Open to kids ages 6-13. $100/KID ADULT PAIR
